About the Program
Fundamentals of Palliative Care is a series of learning packages designed for health care workers – registered and non-registered – who are caring for people with terminal illness.
The program is delivered through a blended model of learning, consisting of five online modules followed by a full day in-person workshop.

Workshops
You need to complete all online learning modules and the in-person workshop to complete the full program.
Step One:
Register to start your online learning at Knowledge Hub. REGISTER HERE
Step Two:
Complete the online modules in the following order before you attend the in-person workshop.
Essence Palliative Care Concepts and Culture of Care - 1 hour
The Palliative Care Approach – 1 hour
o Communication, Ethics and Spirituality
Managing Pain and Long Term Illness – 1 hour each
o Pain, other symptoms and pharmacology
o Chronic illness and dementia
Care and Support at the End of Life – 1 hour
o Last days of life, grief, loss and caring for ourselves
Step Three:
Book the In-Person Workshop (booking form below).
This is a free course (morning tea and afternoon tea provided)
The In-Person Workshop
This is an important full day workshop consolidating the online learning modules and provides you with the completion certificate for the Fundamentals of Palliative Care program.
The in-person workshop will be held at Izard Hospice House, 29 Huka Falls Rd, Taupō, will cover the following 3 topics:

Managing Pain and Long-Term Illness
Care and Support at the End of Life
